The situation

What has happened

Your first shift on the Northgate Commercial Tower contract starts at 6:00 pm on level 8 under team leader Rosa Delgado. The site cleaning schedule covers levels 8 to 14: offices, meeting rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, lift lobbies and glass. A floor stripper spill happened in the level 14 cleaners' room last week and the storage has been changed as a result. On level 9 a lifting carpet tile in the lift lobby is taped down and the buffer must not be used there. Rosa will take you through the cleaners' room, the chemical register and the machines before you start, and expects you to record your shift on the job board and report any hazard you find.

Your brief. Prepare for and complete your allocated areas to the site schedule using the correct chemicals, dilutions, PPE and equipment, keep the cleaners' room and register in order, record the shift on the job board and report any hazard or defect you find.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Observe or check for correct dilution and labelling, PPE matched to the products, wet floor signage, colour-coded cloths, the order of cleaning from clean to dirty areas, and the equipment tag check. The student must avoid the buffer at the hazard and must report at least one hazard through the right system. The job board entry must be complete.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
